Attn all Pakistani TV channels - STOP !

Dear Media Channels

It is absolutely depressing and disappointing what you are showing in drama serials these days. While our literacy rate is below average, we do understand and are already aware of the negatives of our culture. Strangely the majority of dramas are showing the following:

• ·         Domestic violence
• ·         Father’s beating
• ·         Husbands cheating and going for several marriages
• ·         Women cheating, conspiring and plotting
• ·         A ruthless Muslim culture

Yes! We know this is the prevailing culture in Pakistan, but I believe it is not the Muslim culture at all. In comparison the Indian dramas are much better with regards to violence. On the other side the Indian dramas may not be good in quality but still better.  The Indian dramas showing dotting wives standing while their men eat, but lesser slaps and kicks to women, whereas the Pakistani dramas are showing violence with capital “V”. Respect should be mutual not just women respecting men!! Men should equally respect and love their daughters, wives, mothers and sisters. Yes there are some comedy dramas as well and good ones. 

As you are aware “Copy cat crimes” are those that are model led or inspired by previous crimes that has been reported in media.  By making the cheating women and men look glamorous, media is actually promoting people to do copy cat crimes. How about making a few dramas where men show respect and gratitude to the women in their lives? Whether she is housewife, working woman, student or maid. In general when you flip through the channels women are crying, badly depressed, sad or conspiring. There are historical as well as religious examples where the Holy prophet P.B.U.H. himself is our Ideal Role Model. Sadly men only pick up the fact that He saw did several marriages, they fail to adopt his justice, his kindness to all his wives, his patience and his tolerance. 

It would be highly recommended if instead of showing the current material the media adopts positive roles in a fun sort of manner, which is appealing to both men and women. Neither the women nor the men should be conspiring or cheating. Life is too short and a happy healthy culture that promotes mutual love , respect and sincerity is desired.
